Bullying in Union County Schools

Since 2011, the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act required schools to report all incidents of bullying, harrassment and intimidation (HIB), and violence. The New Jersey Department of Education collates this data and annually reports on the number of bullying and violent episodes in each school.

Here are the results for Union County public schools:

Union County Educational Services Commission in Westfield reported the highest number of violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents in Union County. With 8.45 incidents per 100 students, this school ranks at number 11 in the State. There were 4 bullying incidents in total.

Hillside Township reported 2.52 incidents of violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying per 100 students, bringing them to number 100 in the State. There were 26 bullying incidents.

Kenilworth Public Schools reported 2.44 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students, ranking them at number 109 in the State. There were 11 bullying incidents.

Berkeley Heights public schools ranks at number 169 in the State with 1.93 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students.There were 37 bullying incidents.

Springfield public schools reported 1.71 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students and is ranked number 196 in New Jersey. There were 25 bullying incidents.

Roselle Park ranked number 221 with 1.57 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying in1.51cidents per 100 students. There were 21 bullying incidents.

Roselle and Union Township ranked number 233 and 234 with 1.51 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students. Roselle reported 23  and Union reported 15 bullying incidents.

Summit reported 11 bullying incidents in total and 1.38 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students and is ranked number 259 in NJ.

Linden reported 28 bullying incidents and 1.2 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students, putting them at number 312 in the State.

Rahway is ranked number 335 in New Jersey with 1.12 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents reported per 100 students. There were 19 bullying incidents.

Scotch Plains- Fanwood Regional High School reported 0.97 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students and 15 bullying incidents in total. It is ranked number 379.

Union County Vocational is ranked 382 in New Jersey with 0.96 incidents per 100 students and a total of 2 bullying incidents.

The public schools of Elizabeth reported 0.93 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents and are ranked 393 in the State. There were 89 bullying incidents.

Plainfield reported 0.89 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents and is ranked number 404. There were 32 bullying incidents.

Garwood reported 1 bullying incident and 0.78 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students and is ranked number 440.

Mountainside is ranked at number 496 with 0.56 incidents per 100 students and 1 total bullying incident.

Clark is number 512 in New Jersey with 0.48 reported incidents per 100 students with a total of 3 bullying incidents.

Westfield reported 0.47 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students and is ranked 514 in the State. There were 11 bullying incidents.

Cranford reported 0.41 violence, vandalism, weapons, substance abuse, and bullying incidents per 100 students with 5 bullying incidents in total and is ranked number 526.
