Have you seen the forecast? Hazy, hot, and humid is on its way for the weekend!
The term “dog days” means the 6 weeks from July 3rd to August 11th because that is when the Sun is in the same part of the sky as the “Dog Star” Sirius which is the brightest star in the constellation Canis Major or Big Dog.
But that’s not why it’s so hot. Summer is hot in New Jersey because the earth is tilted toward the Sun during the summer which means the sun’s rays hit more directly and for more hours in the day.
Wishing you lots of pool days and ice cream during the Dog Days this year!
